I believe that no one should face difficult times alone. The emotional pain of stress, anxiety, depression, or relationship issues might have left you feeling isolated and lonely at the time when human contact is needed most. Opening up to your friends or family can be hard. By being warm, empathic, and non-judgmental, I provide a safe space where you can express yourself and feel seen and understood.

As a former refugee who built a Wall Street career and then moved on to become a psychoanalyst, I am particularly sensitive to the challenges of life transitions and reinventing oneself. I work with clients from all walks of life who are at crossroads, struggling to figure out who they are and what they want in life. I see immigrants managing pressures of adaptation to their new life. I help straight and queer couples to deal with infidelities, illnesses, and communication difficulties.

Our work together can help you heal, find the strength to face challenges, get to know yourself better, and ultimately lead a more aware, fulfilling life. 

I have extensive postgraduate training in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, and a wide range of experience that includes outpatient mental health clinic and private practice. I am a member of the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA) and of the Contemporary Freudian Society (CFS); the Director of the Licensed Psychoanalyst (LP) Program at the CFS; a clinical supervisor and faculty member at the Psychoanalytic Training Institute of the CFS and the Metropolitan Institute for Training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.

 
 
 

 

Individual Therapy, Psychoanalysis,  Relationship Counseling

 
 

I work with a diverse population of clients. Individual sessions last 45 minutes. The frequency of meetings varies from once or twice a week for therapy to 4 or 5 times per week for psychoanalysis. I usually work with clients in person. In special situations, I offer online sessions via a telehealth platform.

My approach is based on psychodynamic theory. It assumes that a personality is determined by conscious and unconscious processes, and that current experiences are influenced by personal history, especially the person's childhood and exposure to trauma. I also use a variety of attachment, cognitive, relational, and strength-based techniques to tailor the treatment to your specific needs. 

During our first meeting, you will have an opportunity to express your needs and discuss concerns and practical matters, including scheduling and fees. It will also give you a sense of my style, and help us determine whether we can work well together.

Sessions with couples and families are 55 minutes long. I will help to deepen your relationships by improving communication, increasing your ability to acknowledge each other's perspectives, and understanding and changing problematic behavioral patterns.

I am a licensed service provider in the states of New York, California, and Florida.

Payment

 

I care about affordability of therapy and analysis for clients with a range of incomes. If paying my full fee is a hardship, I will adjust it using a sliding scale based on your income, out-of-network benefits, and other circumstances.  I accept checks, Zelle transfers, and major credit cards.  

I do not participate in any insurance panels as an in-network provider. My services can be eligible for out-of-network insurance reimbursement, as well as Flexible Spending Plans and Health Savings Accounts. Please check with your individual health plans to determine if you have benefits that allow for reimbursement.
